Reason being that they may not have the anti foaming agents needed in a lower unit. Lower units have very little extra oil and space for expansion, Therefore if the oil foams too much you will loose your lubrication. WebJan 9, 2003 · For an OTC you can get Pennzoil 100% synthetic (excludes the carrier oil) and it is GL-5 and backward compatible. 75W90, good all temp oil. Another OTC is LubriMatic Power Pro, a semi-syn with 20% synthetic, GL-4 and 80-90. I use the Pennzoil in all 3 boats as I can get it at Wally World, and always in stock.

The engine has just been rebuilt and purrs like a kitten, but there is some damage to the lower unit that I have been elected by unanimous vote to try and repair. WebThe issue at hand is all of our customers are family oriented boat users that drive across the bay to hang out on the weekends. The customers do not put these lower units through "the test" like screamandfly guys do. I feel these are great replacement lower units for your average boater, who cruises at 3500- 4000 rpm just putting down the channel.
